EnvironACT at the American Corners Romania

The American Cultural Center is an active contributor to the protection of the environment, taking part through its affiliated American Corners in ecological activities occurring in major Romanian cities like Bacau, Baia Mare, Bucuresti, Cluj, Constanta, Craiova, Iasi and Timisoara.

The emphasis was on practical activities and all the American Corners thought of innovative projects to help raise the awareness on environment protection and recycling. The start of the EnvironACT was given on April 4 in Timisoara and the circle was closed on May 6 in Iasi and Constanta.

The events organized were of different types, including tree and flower planting, cleaning a park and parades of costumes made of recycling materials.

The participants in these activities were mainly high school students and they worked together with representatives of the County Council and American Officers from the US Embassy in Bucharest.
